Project 54/74 seeks to provide an archive of die images and schematics for SSI and MSI chips from the 1980's, starting with the 54xx/74xx series of logic chips. You can learn a lot about chip design just by looking at these simple chips, but die images are not enough. This is why we strive to annotate the components on the chip and convert that to schematic form. Some information, such as the sizes of some components, may be lost in translation to schematic, but it is easy to look at the schematic, then the annotated image and see why a particular component is larger or smaller than usual.
Is this stuff legal?
What license are the files under?
Where do you store your stuff?
The basic text data is stored on this site, with many links to information at the English Wikipedia. Package, die, and annotated die images are stored at the Wikimedia Commons. KiCad ZIP and annotated die SVG files are stored on this site.
How do you generate this stuff?
See the Procedure:Techniques page.
How do you pay for this stuff? Are you sponsored?
This is my hobby, and I pay for it personally. I have no sponsors. People sometimes give me chips. I'm always looking for the ones I don't have.
I also have a Patreon up, if you'd like to help me.
